The Datasphere Initiative is a non-profit dedicated to global collaboration on technical and policy solutions for the urgent, multidimensional, and cross-border challenges of data governance. We developed a methodology to build agile frameworks through sandboxes.
Sandboxes are safe spaces to test new technologies and practices against regulatory frameworks, or experiment with innovative uses and means of governing data. With sandboxes we can unlock groundbreaking possibilities.

We are launching the Global Sandboxes Forum.
The inaugural meeting took place on the sidelines of the G20 meetings and States of the Future Summit in Rio de Janeiro, on July 22-23, 2024.
Participants discussed the roles of sandboxes, examples of design and implementation, regional or national level perspectives on the enablers and challenges of implementing sandboxes, and international collaborations.See the Insights Report here.
The Global Sandboxes Forum brings together a community of practice to demonstrate the unique potential of sandboxes and foster the adoption of a more collaborative approach to address local and global challenges of the digital age.
It aims to empower public and private actors by sharing experiences, building capacity, developing evidence-based guidance on how to implement sandboxes, and catalyzing concrete initiatives at the local, national and regional levels to responsibly unlock the value of data for people and the planet.
